BigDog Hydraulic Quadruped Robot
The "Big Dog" is a 4 legged hydraulic robot creature that could prove to be a valuable tool for the U.S. Army and other military applications. When I first saw the video it reminded me of a deer especially when it slips on the ice and gets back up. The more I looked at it, the more it looks like 2 sets of human legs. It reminds me of 2 men carrying a box with the lead man walking backwards. There was a funny YouTube comment that said, "If I recall correctly, the only way to stop it is by crushing it with a high pressure industrial hydraulic press or dropping it into container of molten steel." The commenter was referring to the extreme methods used to stop the "Terminator" in the Terminator movies.

If you can't afford to buy a BigDog robot for your kids you can settle for the LittleDog robot.

The Latest (March 23, 2008) BigDog Video

Here is the latest BigDog Military Robot video. From the video you can see that the new advanced BigDog now features 2 legs instead of 4. It also features a new engine that cuts the buzzing noise in half. In addition, the new unit has increased payload with it's efficient plastic bag technology. The engineers even ordered special lettering for the side of autonomous robot that says, "BIG DOG", in bold print.

The American "BigDog" Robot conquers rough terrain

The American Big Dog Robot is a 4 legged (quadruped) robot that is designed for military applications. It looks much more advanced than those little "tracked" propelled robots that currently do military and police work. The four legs give it all terrain capability. It is even able to recover from a slip on the ice. In addition, it can climb up and down snow covered hills and it can climb piles of blocks. It also has the ability to gallop much like a deer or horse. When you first watch the video it seems more like you're watching an animal than a robot. The Japanese may have the edge on robots, but it looks like the Americans are quickly catching up.

Tracked Robots with Machine Gun or Rocket Launcher

Battlefield Robots - This style of robot features tank like track propulsion that can even climb up stairs. A fully automatic machine gun or even a Rocket launcher can be mounted onto these little fighting machines. The video says that the robots never get tired or hungry, but they will need some type of fuel or batteries to keep them going.

The Japanese have their own walking military machine

Well, due to the fact that a human climbed into the cockpit of this machine, I wouldn't call it a robot. It's more like a walking (skating) vehicle. I wasn't really impressed. I expected more from the Japanese. I had always thought they were the leaders in robot technology, but the American "BigDog" robot looks light years ahead of the Japanese walker.

The Ford Robot - Very witty robot

When I think of Ford I think of big heavy duty luxury pickup trucks. I would have never guessed that they also make an advanced robot capable of interacting with an audience at a trade show and with the capability of making sarcastic comments toward Honda, who also manufactures vehicles and robots. I was quite impressed with the Ford robot. I would like to see how it compares head to head with the Honda robots.

Sony Dancing Robots

I guess if you can program it to dance you can program it to carry and shoot a weapon. I have to say I was impressed with their quick movements.

A Beautiful Japanese Woman Robot

Let's take a break from robots and watch an interview with a beautiful Japanese woman who can tell us much about Robot Technology. In case you don't realize it, the Japanese woman is actually a robot or android. I guess the purpose of the beautiful droid is to create an alternative to having a girlfriend. For some guys it might be easier and/or cheaper to just buy a droid instead of going through the traditional method of finding a female human. I wonder if the droid is anatomically correct? Here she is wearing a Hello Kitty sweatshirt and making facial expressions.

Cute J-Girl Robot in Tokyo, Japan

If you liked the last sexy female robot, then you're going to love the new J-Girl Robot. Can you imagine how advanced they will be in five years? The Japanese are really going to have a cornerstone in the high tech robot wife/husband department. Canada is also making female robots, but the Japanese appear to be light years ahead of the Canadians. Oh, and check out the English Robot

This Robot has sexy legs

Robot Girl visits the Dentist

If you're like me, this video will truly shock you. It seems so real when you see the poor robot girl gagging as the dentist sticks instruments into her mouth. The robots are getting so life like. I predict that in 10 years the robots will be so incredibly life like that a huge market will open up for wealthy people to buy human companionship and human mates in the form of robots. In 20 years it will be hard to tell the difference between robots and humans.

Toyota shows off violin-playing humanoid robot

If it can play a violin, then it can fire a weapon. I didn't know Toyota was into making robots, but judging from the quality of their cars, I'm sure they can do whatever they set their minds to. Oh and they also have one that plays the trumpet.

WARNING: THIS ROBOT MIGHT FREAK YOU OUT

Freaky Robot

This video is titled "Freaky Robot". I think the name speaks for itself.

Last but not least: Honda Asimo

Probably the most famous robot in the world is the Honda Asimo robot. I was impressed with the vocal abilities of the Ford robot, but I have to say that it is incredible to watch the Honda Asimo run and walk. I would like to see a competition between the Asimo and the BigDog robot. I think the Asimo has more brains while the BigDog has more brawn.
