Strange Black Blob on the Sun

john said... Let me explain it to you Dave... It's called a camera trick. They simply painted the letters RJ55 on a glass plate and held it up in front of the camera lens. They also used a special sun filter to reduce the strength of the sun's rays. May 17, 2009 3:04 PM

max said... I have seen photos of the sun. There are 2 types of photos of the sun. You must be thinking of the "red" type of sun photo taken by a space telescope. The Rj55 photo looks similar to the "yellow" type taken by a lower power telescope from the surface of the earth. Just google "space shuttle silhouette" and you will see what I mean.
